ECAC Power Rankings (Week 4)

Rankings compiled by Luke Devoe

Here is the fourth installment of FTNTTB's ECAC Power Rankings. The rankings will appear each week on the blog. Ten ECAC sportswriters have taken part in the rankings this week and teams have been rated on a 1-12 point scale. If you are interested in sending in your rankings for future weeks tweet me @QUHockeyBlog by Tuesday of the week of the poll. We will aim to get the rankings posted Wednesday of each week.

Going by votes this week, according to those polled, the league has a clear cut top 4, mid 4 and bottom 4. Enjoy.

First place votes in parenthesis
1.) Union- 114 points (7); Last week- 2 (+1)
The Dutch regain the top spot after sweeping the Penn State Nittany Lions. The Dutch didn't wipe the floor with D1's newest competitors but they took care of them in workmanlike form. Union boasts a team offense and defense that both rank in the top 5 in the country. Friday night's tilt against Quinnipiac should be a dandy as the nation's second best power play (Union 31%) takes on the nation's third best penalty kill (QU 93%).

2.) Quinnipiac- 106 points (2); Last week- 1 (-1)
As USCHO's Brian Sullivan pointed out in his article earlier in the week, the Bobcats are quietly going about their business. They've run off six straight without a loss (5-0-1), still maintain one of the nation's top penalty kill units and have one of the hottest netminders in the country in Eric Hartzell and his 1.56 GAA. With scoring coming from all over the roster, the Bobcats are looking like the team many picked in their top four to start the season. Friday against Union will be very telling for this Bobcats team.
